Corporate and bank fixed deposits, compared

Steady, fixed-rate deposits to anchor the safe side of your portfolio. We curate from SCBs, small finance banks (DICGC-insured up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank), and AAA/AA-rated corporate FDs.

In one paragraph

A fixed deposit is a fixed-rate, fixed-term deposit at a bank or NBFC. Bank FDs are insured by DICGC up to ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank; corporate FDs (HDFC, Bajaj Finance, Shriram) usually pay 0.5–1.0% higher but carry credit risk. For a 5-year tenure as of May 2026, bank FDs are around 7.0–7.5% and AAA corporate FDs around 7.8–8.5%.

Tenure laddering across 1y / 3y / 5y so you don't lock everything at one rate.
DICGC insurance limit of ₹5 lakh per depositor per bank — diversify accordingly.
Corporate FDs require credit-rating diligence: AAA / AA only via our shortlist.
Senior-citizen rate top-ups (+0.5%) flagged where available.
TDS at 10% if interest > ₹40,000 per FY per bank (₹50,000 for seniors).
Why this is currently lead-only

We are AMFI-registered as a mutual-fund distributor. FD transactions in MVP are routed through a partner DSA so that we can verify identity, KYC, and FD master rates with the issuing bank/NBFC before you commit. A local advisor will share live rates and complete the application with you.

No assured or guaranteed return is implied. FD rates change without notice. AAA/AA corporate FD ratings can be revised; we will notify you on rating action affecting your FD.

Frequently asked questions

Why isn't there a 'Buy FD' button?
FD transactions need a partner DSA flow in MVP. Phase 2 brings direct issuance through select banks and corporates. For now, a callback ensures the rate, tenure and credit rating you see is what you actually get.
Are corporate FDs safe?
AAA-rated corporate FDs from established issuers (HDFC, Bajaj Finance, Sundaram Finance, M&M Financial) have low historical default risk but no DICGC insurance. Read the rating + the prospectus. Diversify; never put more than ~20% of FD allocation in a single corporate issuer.
Can I break an FD early?
Yes — banks charge a 0.5–1.0% pre-mature penalty; some corporate FDs lock the funds completely or charge a steep penalty. The penalty terms are in the deposit receipt; we'll surface them on the comparison page.
How is FD interest taxed?
At your slab rate. TDS deducted at 10% if interest exceeds ₹40,000/FY (₹50,000 for senior citizens) per bank. You'll see it in 26AS / AIS. Submit Form 15G/15H if your total income is below the basic exemption.
